UEval: Bringing Community-Based Experiential Learning to the Evaluation Classroom

Abstract: This practice note describes the unique features of, and lessons learned from, UEval, an innovative one-week “evaluation institute” at Faculty of Extension, University Alberta. initiative responds to identified community university need provide contextual socially relevant evaluation-focused educational opportunities learners across disciplines sectors. UEval is guided by principles participatory experiential learning brings together undergraduates, graduates, professionals as co-learners for a mutually beneficial sustainable experience. During week, explore apply evaluation theory through project-based curricula develop evaluative responses community-informed issues.
